Rams run in Panorama cross country meet

Editor’s note: Cross country coach Jeff Lamoureux reported there were several errors in the initial results provided by the host school for the boys race. He provided updated results as follows.

The Greene County boys cross country team finished in 7th place of 12 teams and the girls finished in 10th place of 11 teams at the Panorama Cross Country Invitation Sept. 14 in Panora.

“This is always a tough meet, both with the difficulty of the course with its many hills, and the level of competition. Many of the top teams in the area are at this meet,” coach Jeff Lamoureux said. “Our kids are working hard and continue to improve.

Sophomore Noah Hinote finished first among the Rams with a time of 6:26.0, good for 33rd place. Other Ram finishes were sophomore Gavin Winters, 6:31.8, 39th place; senior Ethan Frederick, 6:35.6, 43rd; junior Kolby Angell, 6:39.6, 46th; freshman Carter Hinote, 7:44.5, 49th; and senior Mylo Taute, 7:23.5, 76th place.

Team scores were Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center 46, Ogden 90, Clarinda 94, Kuemper Catholic 126, Des Moines Christian 145, Earlham 150, Greene County 182, Southeast Valley 199, Madrid 211, Van Meter 267, Tri-Center 271, and Exira-EHK, 287.

Senior Olivia Shannon was the first Ram across the finish line in the girls race. Shannon was in 34th place with a time of 7:44.8. Freshman Ava Minnehan was 52nd in 8:28.4, followed by senior Autumn Stevens in 56th place with a time of 8:42.0, sophomore Ava Jablonski in 62nd place in 9:07.0, and freshman Leah McCormick in 82nd place in 11:28.9.

Van Meter won the girls meet with a score of 51. Other team scores were Clarinda 74, Earlham 83, Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center 114, Ogden 137, Madrid 146, Kuemper Catholic 170, West Central Valley 176, Tri-Center 213, Greene County 239, and Southeast Valley 303.
